Ellen's Sewing Passion

This is a pattern that really catched my eye! I like to challenge myself, and the lapel collar is a bit tricky to make, but this time I'm very happy with the outcome :) I have used light weight denim with a little stretch. I started with makeing all the inserts for the upper part. Then I stitched the the front and back panels together. This is the facing for the collar. I stitched the lower part to the collar before stitching the collar together.  I have also made a "fake" pocket on the left side. Then the skirt is stitched together with the upper part. This was a very interesting patter! It's like a cape on top of the top :) I did'nt want that to have the top very short, so I cut the back panel a bit longer. After I tried it, I have to cut the extra off again.. I started with stitching the bust inserts for the front panel. I made the slits for the back panel, and folded the pleats. The pleats are stitched in place. Then I stitched around the neck for the facing, and stitched a double layer of fabric around the arm holes, and turned it to the inside.  At first, I tried to have a rubberband at the waist, but I liked it more without. I wanted to have an easy dress to wear at the office for this time of year, and I bought this nice denim crepe at Lysthuset.no I have made two other version of the same pattern: Dress made of Scarf  and the  Flowery Dress I stitched the shoulder- and the side seams together. I made the collar for the neck. Then I stitched the button holes in place. I found out that the easiest way was to sew the buttons in place before stitching the skirt to the top.  I decided to make side-pockets to the dress. The skirt has no opening, so you just put the dress over your head. I made the flounces for the cuffs of the sleeves. I have used very narrow zig-zag stitches, and cut of the exstra edges. The cuffs are ready to stitch together with the sleeves. I made the sleeve opening first, Then I stitched the cuffs to the sleeves. Nähtrends pattern 02/2024

I found some printed denim fabric in my stash and thought it would be geat for a shirt. I have combined the denim with jersey that was a perfect match.  The pattern pieces are cut out, and the facing for the front is included in the pattern. Since I have used jersey for the pocket,  I needed to pin it very carefully so it would stay in place. I think I manage very well. The yok is fasten to the back part and the shoulder seam is stitched. The collar is stitched together.  - and stitched in place. I hand-stitched the collar in place on the inside. The shirt has slits at the side-hem. He wss happy with his shirt and was wearing it right away :) Ottobre Kids fashion
