Ellen's Sewing Passion

I found this great surfing jersey to make a T-shirfor our son! This is an easy T-shirt, but the fabric is the Wow-factor! The pants are also made of jersey, from  Meretes Atelier The pants are cut with both front-pockets and back-pockets. The front pockets are sewn straight to the front parts. The back-pockets are sewn on top of the back parts. On the Catwalk: Øystein are wearing the T-shirt together with a refashion shorts  made of a jacket and a pajamas from The Norwegian Sewing Bee ,  and the jacket he is carrying is also from the TV-show.

I was invited to have a local Catwalk on the LADIES EVE last Friday.  This picture is from our local newspaper, and I'm together with my lovely Friend, Torunn💛 wearing the raincoat I made  when I participate in the Norwegian Sewing Bee 🐝 All my models and good Friends💕 At first we had a Refashion Catwalk. The dress Torunn is wearing is made of my son's jeans combined with  white bi-stretch and lace fabric for the sleeves,  Refashion with Jeans  Sara is wearing a yellow T-shirt combined with the bottom of a sweater  and sleeves from a jacket,  Dress with Hoodie Eva is wearing a T-short turned back-forward and  my son's T-short as a skirt for the dress,  Easy Refashion Fun Inger Hanne is wearing a jacket combined with  my husband's sweater as a skirt,  Animal print Refashion Torhild is wearing my son's T-shirt combined with an old blouse,  T-shirt Dress   After ...

This is my contribution for the Premier Dress Challenge for Christine Hope.  She is the host for the Norwegian Seeing Bee this year as well - and I love her 💖 I thought a Fresh Lady like her needed something special with a "touch of fun" With focus on "green environment" I have tried to make a refashion dress for her  from an old tunic and a top, and with curtain tassels as decoration for the belt.   "Dress Crises!" She is so sad because she don't have a dress to wear for the Premier 😒 I thought this tunic would be a great skirt for a dress for her! and the top would be nice together. I cut the tunic into a good shape for the skirt. The belt is petersham ribbon with tassels which you normally use for curtains decoration.     I had to use a color to cheer up the black top, so I have use turquoise piping.    Christine's last name is on a big button at the back! Ingrid Bergtun is a 27 years old sewing and refashion blogger.  She discovered sewing only two and a half years ago  and got addicted to this amazing world of creativity.  Ingrid participated in the Norwegian sewing bee contest in 2017.  Thereafter she decided that sewing should be a bigger part of her life.  She made a business of her creativity, and this is now her full time job.  On the picture she is wearing a refashion jumpsuit made of an old blazer and skirt. Trudie Scholman (or with my given by birth names: Geertruida Maria Scholman),  born in the Netherlands and moved to Norway in '93.  Living in Stavanger and working as a graphical designer. Besides being an addict of music (opera), literature and film,  and an interest in current political mindsets,  another part of me finds a lot of pleasure in sewing, tailoring culture one might say. The kick off for this interest, and still the main reason,  is to get better fitting and slightly more colorful garment for everyday use,  and as a spice, fancy dresses and classical suiting will surface now and then.  My passion is to refine my shirt sewing,  making details crispy,  and done within reasonable time.  The one on the picture is not one of my best overall.  It stayed with me for too long,  but the collar went of beautifully, as did the cuffs.  As always with shirts, no overlock, just French seams. My name is Monica C Herredsvela, finalist in the Norwegian “Sewing bee” 2017, and author of the book “ Fra drøm til søm” (From having a dream, until making it a seam). The book is all about redesign/ refashion, step by step inspiration. I’m 44 years old, mother of 3, married and living in the countryside in Norway. I really love sewing, and normally sew daily. My favorite projects are different colorful dresses with happy pattern and bold combinations. Sewing is my happy place, not my work or “have to do” and that’s what making it perfect. You need a sweater, and if it is a little big, it's even better. Now you need a fabric you can use together with the sweater.  I’m using jersey, but you can use wool or other fabrics as well.
