X-mas Dress with Spiral petal 💖

The dress is based on the same BurdaStyle pattern as I used for my  Draping Fluid Dress This project was very challenging, but also very fun! The pattern had to be made at first, so this is on the right side, - and this is on the wrong side. I put the pattern on the cotton fabric. It's definitely the best to use cotton fabric, so the foldings can be shown.   I have to press hard with the fingers so the folding will stay, but I do not recommend to use iron, then it will be to hard. Then you have to stitch one by one together, and one of the seam will be on the side.   I started sewing the folds for the skirt together. The skirt has inserted side pockets. This is all the parts that needs to stitch together. This is the lining with a part of the fabric. - and this is the lining of the front. The top of the dress is loose, and not stitched to the skirt. It's the same at the back, and the slits are open on top of the zipper. This is a closer picture. The pockets are in line wi...

50's Cocktail Dress!

When I first saw this dress in the BurdaStyle magazine for February, I knew I wanted to make one! The upper part is the most interesting with the dress  and it reminds me of one I made when I attend the origami course.  The darts are not stitched together, but folded in place, and I also fold the other pleats on to of the other. The darts are stitched for the back parts. I cut the lining for the upper part, and fold- and stitched the darts. The shoulder seams are stitched together and I stitched around the neck, and then close to the seam.  Then I do the same with the arm holes before stitched the side seams together.  The pleats for the skirt is layed in the right direction and stitched to the waist. Then I sew the side pockets in side-seams. I made the belt for the dress as well. I had to shorten the skirt by 10 cm since I had only 2 meter of the linen fabric. I have used an invisible zipper at the back. BurdaStyle #133 02/2025

Japanese Dress with Gathering sleeves!

This dress pattern was quite a challenge! All the parts are cut out of a nice linen fabric. I started with stitching around the short sleeves. I made the facing for the neck. At first, I had to stitch the bust darts. When I stitch the zipper in place, I stitch a little notch where the once side ended, or if I have a seam at the waist to match, so it's easy to stitch the other side to the same point. This is the first time I have tried to top stitched the short sleeves in place, but I think I managed. I use a double bias as a finish for the armholes and stithed it to the inside. I also had to stitched the sleeves on top to the layer of the fabric. This is the facing before I have stitched it around the neck. I always cut a lttle notch at the middle, then it's easy to match the different parts. The dress is finished - and I'm very happy with how it turned out! Pattern from Japanese Style book 2012.
