Holiday dress with Kimono belt!

Image
I was lucky to find this wonderful viscose fabric when I visited a local fabric shop in Stavanger. I decided to try a pattern that I have made once before, but with another kind of fabric. All the parts are cut, and ready for sewing. I started with the upper part and stitched the shoulder seams. This is normally the facing, but this time I'm going to stitch it on the right side instead. Therefore I stitched it facing right on wrong side. I understitched with a seam very close to the seam so it should stay in place. Then i stitched the seam around the neck. This is how it looks like without the skirt. I stitched the side seams for the skirt, and connected it to the upper part. The dress is finished. I made a kimono belt for the dress at the end. Chiffon Dress with Flounce

- Happy Color 🌈  - Happy Holiday! Chiffon from a market in Utrecht in The Netherlands! I think this fabric was perfect to make a Holiday dress! 🌞 When you have such delicate and transparent fabric it's not so easy to mark the darts. As  you can see I have hand stitched through the pattern to mark it with tread. Then you can mark it properly afterwords. The darts are sewn, and they are not so visible. I made a double band to gather around the neck of the dress. First I had to sew the lining for the dress, and decided to go for a dark grey satin. This little cutter from Fiskars is great for cutting "jacks" at the curves.      The dress is finished with the gathering band as decoration. I'm very Happy with the outcome! 😄 BurdaStyle 05/2016

Sunshine Dress ☼

In Norwegian we have a saying; "Gult er Kult!" Yellow is Cool! 💛 For holiday it's a great and sunny color! For this dress I have used cotton satin and the pattern is from BurdaStyle October 2019. I'm always curious to try new pattern, and this was not an exception.. I like the inserted pockets which are a great detail.
