Kimono Dress - Coat 🌸🌸🌸

Image
I have been to Japan several times, and I fell in love with this coat pattern when I saw it, but unfortunately it took a while before I found the right fabric and moment to make it. I have used double-sided chinese brocade and black linen for the other parts.  - and microsatin for the lining. I used underlayer (vliseline) on both the upper part and  the facing of the black linen so it should be stiff enough. The upper part of the black linen are stitched to the front and back panels. The sleeves are stitched together on the one side,  and the the lower part of the lining that are made of linen. The sleeves looks very nice. This is the lining for the coat. I have used black painted snap-buttons. I'm very Happy with how the project turned out💗 The Dress-Coat is finished, and I'm very proud of the result :) BurdaStyle

Brocade Coat 💙

Image
This is a fabulous brocade fabric I have saved to the right moment... It was quite a challenge since the fabric was fringing a lot, but worth the effort! I have placed the pattern as shown, and tried to match the stripes on the wrong side. The pocket is sewn to the side seams. I have made an inner seam close to the seam line. Then it's easy for the pocket line to stay in place.   I have sewn the darts at the shoulders for the collar. The facing is connected to the outer parts. Then the sleeves have to be sewn, and the lining to come. I chose to use turquoise satin lining. I have used snap-buttons and made cover buttons with the same satin lining.   Voila - the coat is ready for a trip to town!  The  Linen Dress  is an earlier project. Birthday Dress

Image
I made this dress for  Sara's Birthday 💙 I bought the fabric for making pillows for the sofa in the living room, but ended up with sewing this dress instead... Turquoise is a lovely color for Sara, and I think it suits her very well. The square neck looks very nice, and I have used micro satin for lining. The pattern I chose to use was a bit loose, so I had to make some alternation for the front part to make it fit good. I have made a jersey  Tank Dress  earlier, and it's a great pattern.       Burdastyle pattern #106 08/2014
