Ellen! it's so good to see your work again. I've missed your fun and talented projects and smiling face! Even though Burdastyle.com isn't what it used to be, I knew that wouldn't stop you from making fantastic things. Hope all is well with you! ~ curry in USA

Foto: Marit Hommedal I’m so excited!!! It’s hard to believe that I was chosen to participate in "Symesterskapet", the Norwegian Sewing Bee, of more than 300 appliers.. I feel SO Lucky to be a part of this fabulous sewing family! I hope you will follow me as far as the show is going on… I know it will be very exciting, and I will learn a lot, and meet a lot of new sewing friends ♥ It will be challenging, blood, sweat and tears…! No eating, no sleeping…! Oh, what can I expect.. The first episode will take place at NRK Monday the 30th of October at hour 19.45. ...
MEMBER MODEL CHALLENGE BY BURDASTYLE I love challenges and had to try this pattern! My choose of fabric is stretch crepe from Jersey Fashion and that it was not an easy choice... I had to hand-stitch around neck with gathering, sleeves, hem and slits. Anyway I managed at last, and I'm happy with the outcome :) Vote her if you like I'm no. 10 :)
My friends have asked me several times; why don’t you apply for the Sewing bees? “This is not for me, I said. It’s far too much rush with time limits to complete the projects”. All of a sudden I’m right in the middle of it! To be honest I didn’t think about applying before my niece called me on my holiday and said; “aunty, I wanted to apply for you, but I couldn’t answer all the questions, but you have to sign up for this competition.” I had a look on the link she sent me on FB, and after hesitating for a while I thought; Why not give it a try! I didn’t think so much about it before I got a phone call before Christmas, and I was asked if I could come for an interview in January.Wow! I was so excited and couldn’t tell anyone..! (only my beloved husband) You can see my lovely niece, who is a fabulous model for me ♥ She is wearing a Coctail Dress from an earlier project. I was so nervous when I travelled to ...
This is another technique I had to try by Shingo Sato. It was a lot of work sewing all these pieces together, but it was worth the effort! As you can see there are no side- or shoulder seams for the top. I started with sewing the upper part of BurdaStyle pattern #107 05/2016 and draw the pattern lines on the top as you can see. I had to sew all the corners very carefully to get the best result. I choose to use the skirt as the pattern shows. I like this pattern a lot and have made a blue/black Dress , and also a geometrically Dress earlier.
I'm a big FAN of COLOR-BLOCKING! 💫 - and I love sewing Dresses! Here are my collection of color-blocked dresses. I have a link to the project under the pictures, so if you like, you can see more pics or the pattern I have used in the projects. This is my new TR Dress based on Shingo Sato's Transformational Reconstruction. It's time consuming since the sewing has to be very precisely, but it's worth the effort! As you can see, there are no seam on the shoulders or at the sides of the top. The dress is based on pattern #104 from BurdaStyle 10/2016. It has fancy pockets, but still it's feminine. I have used woven linen, but I had to wash it before sewing to keep the color nicely. I have only lined the top, and I'm soooo Happy to finish the dress ;-) Burdastyle pattern #104 10/2016 I have made Pink Dress of the same pattern earlier.
We are ready for a new challenge! The 3rd challenge for this episode was to transform 2-3 garments and make an evening dress for a 16-year old girl within 3 hours 30 minutes. All the models are ready and waiting with our sewing-places. My choices to transform were a lace dress and a kimono from my wardrobe, both bought in Japan. I feel the garments are a bit of my soul.. :) I wanted to impresse the judges with a Japanese technics on the front part of the dress. It's not an applicque as it says on the drawing. Normally you sew an applique on the garment and it's much easier, but I made a draped heart and sew it together with the front part. I had to try the dress on my lovely model Malene to see how much I had to adjust. I used the pink part of the kimono to make the draped heart. I also had to make some inserts at the shoulders and the side panels to make it fit better. Male...
This is a painted picture of the pier in Bergen on the wall at Scandic Byparken Hotel where we stayed this time. Here are all the HAPPY sewing-friends ♥ at Media City Bergen :) I'm wearing my TR Dress which I have posted earlier. At first we had a nice conversation with the NRK producer and project manager, Kristin Helgeland Hauge, and we also had a nice chat with the NRK psychologist. We got champagne in the glasses, and finally we were going to watch the 1st Episode of the Norwegian Sewing Bee, #Symesterskapet. We laughed and it was a lot of FUN seeing ourselves at the TV show! ;-)) I hope the viewers who will watch, will enjoy it! I felt we were back in the sewing studio, and I was really stressed...! Here is our Lovely host for the Seewing Bee, Christine Hope. She won the female Comedy Price in April this year, and we just LOVE her ♥ The judges; Tine Sol...
