Dress with Curved Top!

This was a birthday gift for our daughter in law 😍

I have saved the pattern for the right moment.
I bought linen fabric with stretch and thought it would be great for this project.

The pattern would be perfect for colour blocking as well.

It's a lot of parts for sewing together.

I started with sewing the curvet parts for the top together.

I have used cotton voile as lining for the top.

This is the back parts.

I cut a lot of notches around the curves,
and understitched around the neck and armholses as far as I could manage.

I decided to sew the invisible zipper before sewing the side seams.
I had to make it very exact for matching the curves.

The zipper is shortening by cutting and overlapping with the ends of the zipper.

I decided that I wanted to make side pockets for the dress,
even though it was not present in the pattern.

The pockets are stitched at the side seams.

I have understitched the facing of the pocket, so it will stay in place.

The lining is hand-stitched around the waist.

I think our daughter in law looks fabulous in her new dress 💕

As a finish I have hand stitched the hem.
